Good Food for All Conference

Thursday, May 10, 2018 - 10:00am to 3:00pm

The Free Library of Philadelphia's Culinary Literacy Center is hosting this day-long conference about healthy food for every budget. There will be live food demonstrations, workshops... and more! Learn about eating well on a budget, campus hunger, youth-led programs, family meals, the Farm Bill and more. For people who are SNAP eligible, hunger fighters, food educators, and advocates for food access.

Weavers Way Coop is participating in the Conference - our Food Justice Committee will be leading a workshop entitled Finding Bargains in Co-op Bulk Bins, an interactive program that will engage participants in a hands-on simulation of shopping on a budget for good food in Greater Philadelphia consumer co-ops. Activities will illustrate the "Poor Pay More" phenomenon whereby low-income people are often not able to buy staples in large quantities because of limited cash flows and storage options. Consumer co-ops offer an alternative by allowing shoppers to buy staples at wholesale prices in any quantity they please.

Register today! All categories of tickets include a choice of 12 sessions, lunch, keynote address, resource fair, and raffles.
