Weavers Way Workshop: Natural Dye Party!

Sunday, October 1, 2017 - 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Join us for an afternoon of exploring natural dyeing techniques to create a variety of colors and effects! This workshop will introduce you to natural dye processes through which you can achieve colors from plants that grow all around us.

Together we will create strong, vivid colors using dye plants such as beets, onion skins, avocados, turmeric and black beans. These plants have been used for thousands of years to color the textiles of our ancestors all around the world!

You can bring your own white 100% natural fabric to dye (shirts, napkins, scarfs, pillow covers, etc.), and we will also have some white 100% cotton napkins on hand for purchase. Note that all demonstrations will occur at the beginning of the program. It may not take you the full time to dye your materials, and you can leave once your items are in the dye vat. All participants will leave their items in the dye vats overnight and can pick them up later in the week at their convenience.

This program is FREE, and will be led by Ben Jones, a student of textile design and sustainability education at Philadelphia University. REGISTER HERE.
