Prepared & Empowered: A Community Forum on Aging
As our own lives and those of our loved ones draw to a close, we commonly face radical lifestyle changes, complicated medical conditions and treatments, stressed relationships, communication breakdowns, and other painful situations. We might lose all sense of who has the power, when, to decide what, for who … Too often, difficult decisions we aren't equipped or even entitled to make can leave us feeling stranded, conflicted and overwhelmed.
Inspired by the work of best-selling author Atul Gawande, members of Weavers Way Co-op, Ralston My Way and the Northwest Village Network invite everyone and anyone concerned about end-of-life issues to attend "Prepared & Empowered: A Community Forum on Aging," at The Unitarian Society of Germantown. The Forum is Free and Open to the Public and will feature the following guest panelists:
Gene Bishop, MD, Geriatric Medicine
Karl Ahlswede, MD, Advance Care Planning
Ritajean Read- Chaplain, Penn Wissahickon
Wendy Liebling- LSW, Aging Life Care ProfessionalMedicine
This forum will address practical concerns associated with aging across a broad spectrum of life circumstances, and can offer guidance on how to preserve and promote the highest quality-of-life possible, in the best interest of all concerned, up until and through the very end.
